The following additional information may help clarify the requirement for Volunteer Service hours and Continuing Education hours. Volunteer Service Hours:

  1. A total of 75 Volunteer Service hours are required to satisfactorily complete the course.
  2. Service hours should be obtained in the following categories:
    • Office: 40 hours assisting clients by answering gardening questions.
    • Demo Garden: 15 hours tending the garden. Planting, mulching, pulling weeds, watering etc.
    • Other hours: 14 hours includes special projects such as working with 4-H youth, and community service.
    • Continuing Education: 6 hours
